Questions while setting up your app?
The connection is made through our partner GoCardless, a company authorized by the ACPR (an entity of the Banque de France) as a payment institution. It only serves to read your transactions. Neither they nor we can in any way perform any other action on your bank account.
The envelopes presented during onboarding are suggestions. Once your budget has been created, you can modify or delete them.
Once your budget has been created, you will be able to create your own 100% custom envelopes.
Once your budget has been created, you will be able to change the amount set for each envelope. While using your budget, the change will only apply to the current month and won’t affect past months.
Once your budget has been created, you can definitely delete an envelope.
Questions about how the app works?
The app is 100% secure. It was developed following the latest security guidelines, also complying with personal data protection regulations.
To change your password, go to the login page, click on "I already have an account", then on "forgot password."
Unfortunately, the Budgeez app doesn’t support savings accounts yet! But it’s a great idea we’re working on!
Unfortunately, if you use Budgeez with a deferred debit card for now, only one large transaction will appear in the app, summing all your transactions for the month. Thanks to our split transaction feature, you can manually split your transaction into several transactions to categorize them into different envelopes. However, we know this is not ideal and are actively working on a dedicated mode for deferred debit cards, stay tuned!
Unfortunately, the web version isn’t available yet, but we’re working on it.
Your budget will start on the date you choose when creating it. You can also change it in the settings.
Every month, your budget will start on the chosen date. We recommend, for example, choosing the date you receive your salary.
It’s possible to split a transaction across several envelopes.
To do this, when you click on a transaction to categorize, click on "choose envelope(s)." Select a first envelope. Then you can add one or more envelopes and adjust the distribution between them.
It’s absolutely possible to transfer money from one envelope to another! In the "budget" tab of the app, click the button "transfer between envelopes" at the bottom of the tab.
Your transactions to categorize are shown in your "budget" tab, in the green box.
We also recommend enabling notifications to receive a daily alert showing the transactions you still need to categorize.
The available balance is the balance available in your bank account.
Note: there may be a delay of 1–2 days in the Budgeez app compared to your bank account.
“Spent since 01/XX” means the amount spent since the beginning of the month (whether or not your transactions are categorized).
The monthly budget is the sum of the monthly amounts allocated to each envelope.
It’s not possible to delete the history of transfers between envelopes.
Questions about connecting your bank?
At Budgeez, we believe budgeting should be simple. That’s why we fetch your transactions directly. All you have to do is categorize them into the right envelopes.
On the contrary, the app cannot be used without connecting your bank. For now, it’s not possible to enter your transactions manually (but we’re working on it)!

Don’t have your banking credentials handy? No stress. You can absolutely create your account and define your budget, then connect your bank later.
The login and password you need to use in the app to connect your bank are the same ones you normally use to log in to your online banking.
Do you have accounts in several banks? No problem, you can add as many banks as you want, as long as they are available in the list of banks our provider supports (over 120 banks as of today).
We’re sorry you’re experiencing this issue! Contact us at [email protected] so we can make sure your connection worked properly!
At Budgeez, we support connections with over 120 French banks and 45 Belgian banks! Unfortunately, if your bank isn’t listed, it’s probably because it’s a newer bank that our provider GoCardless doesn’t support yet. Still, don’t hesitate to let us know so we can work on adding it soon.
Deleting account access alone isn’t available yet. To remove access to your accounts, you’ll need to delete your account.
When you connect your bank in the Budgeez app, for security reasons, you grant a 90-day connection right. Once this period expires, you’ll need to reconnect.
More rarely, you may also be asked to reconnect in case of a synchronization issue with your bank, to restore the connection.
Questions about setting up your budget and using the envelope method with Budgeez?
Popular back in our grandparents’ time, the envelope method—or "cash stuffing" in English—is making a big comeback, especially on social media. Why? Largely due to the rising cost of living that requires more careful spending.
Each month, it means:
• identifying all your expense categories,
• setting the budget needed for each category,
• withdrawing the defined amount in cash, and putting it into as many paper envelopes as there are categories.
Throughout the month, the goal is not to withdraw more cash, not to use cards, and only spend the money in each envelope (so no nasty surprises at the end of the month in your bank account).
Unlike many budgeting apps, where each spending category resets to 0 at the start of the month, Budgeez lets you add money to envelopes without resetting them. The advantage? You can set aside money month after month for big purchases, or smooth out irregular expenses over the year (e.g., vacations, gifts, etc.).
In the Budgeez app, you define your envelopes, the monthly amount you want to allocate to each, and the sum of these allocations forms your monthly budget. If your income is regular, we recommend setting a monthly budget equal to or below your income.
In case of irregular income, you can adjust the amount allocated to each envelope each month, but we recommend keeping a consistent monthly budget. Unlike your income, you benefit from working with a fixed monthly budget. This budget should be less than or equal to your average monthly income.
Budgeez lets you allocate a monthly amount to each envelope you create. But you can also create envelopes with a monthly amount of 0.
Why is this useful? For envelopes like “expense reports,” “to be reimbursed,” or “health” that track reimbursements, you can categorize debits (the envelope goes negative), then categorize reimbursements as credits. As long as the envelope is negative, you can clearly see whether you’re still owed money.
With Budgeez, you can fill your envelopes little by little. Each month, you can set aside money for big expenses. For example, if you want to go on vacation 3 times a year for €3000 total, you can set aside €250 each month. When it’s time to go, you’ll just categorize your expenses into the vacation envelope.
To make sure the app matches the reality of your bank account, we created the savings pot. The savings pot represents the difference between the total amount available in your envelopes and the balance in your bank account.
Even if you don’t want a transaction to count toward your budget, the debit for that transaction still has to appear somewhere (since the amount available in your envelopes hasn’t decreased, but your bank account balance has). The savings pot allows you to spend outside your budget while still keeping a record of the transaction.
To make sure the app matches the reality of your bank account, we created the savings pot. The savings pot represents the difference between the total amount available in your envelopes and the balance in your bank account.
That’s why the Budgeez app shows you envelopes (and a savings pot) that reflect the real state of your finances.
On the first of each month, your envelopes are funded with your monthly budget amount, which is why you see a credit line in each of them.
Questions about your Budgeez account?
To delete your account, go to the “profile” tab in the app and click on “delete my account” below “log out.” Your data will then be 100% deleted (note: account deletion is permanent).
When you delete your account, all your data is deleted. Account deletion is therefore permanent.
For now, if you want to use the app with a joint account, simply share the same account (with the same login and password) on two different phones. We’re currently working on an advanced feature.
